I finally did the thing. In June 2024, I became a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher.
Back in November 2022, I began a yoga teacher training, something I felt deeply called to do. A few weeks later, my mother passed away. My sangha and teacher at the time were devastated for me and did their best to support me in every way they could. I attended a few classes remotely and tried to stay present, which felt nearly impossible. The following week, I decided to drive to the studio to be there in person. On the way, my car hydroplaned across four lanes on the highway and crashed into a guard rail. The car was totaled, and I never made it to class that day.
My husband picked me up, and I went straight back to bed, pulling the covers over me for the rest of the day. I wasn’t seriously hurt, aside from a scratch on my back from the impact. Some say that when we lose a loved one, especially a parent, there can be a physical jolt as their energy leaves our lives. That idea felt very real to me that day. It felt as though the universe was redirecting me, and that my mother was protecting me.
Fast forward to April of 2024, I followed that inner calling once again and found myself at Kripalu, a place that has held me again and again in ways that still bring tears to my eyes.
My Kripalu sangha of classmates, faculty, colleagues, and mentors have been deeply supportive, loving, and inspiring throughout this journey.
I offer a deep bow in reverence and gratitude to Swami Kripalu for sharing his lineage and wisdom with all of us who walk this path.

I know my ancestors are proud of me, including my mother. I look forward to sharing this wisdom, rooted in my heritage and woven together with Ayurveda, to continue healing myself and supporting others in the most nurturing way possible.
